Red Hawks Place Fourth In First Meet
The Lady Redhawks traveled to the Skipper's Cross Country Showcase host by St Clair Community College at Goodells County Park.
The course that wet, heavy, and muddy from the recent rains the team earned their best placing ever in and MCCAA sponsored event placing fourth with 114 points. The team was led by returning National Champion Oliva Ippel, placing in first place, winning the meet. Finishing second for LMC was National qualifier Noemi Aravalo, placing 11th overall, her best finish in an MCCAA event. Freshmen Merissa Mendoza, Fenville HS, ran an outstanding race in her collegiate debut, placing 20 overall and in the third spot for LMC. Coming in as the fourth runner and 36 overall was Tania Villegas. Arianna Valazquez ran a two minute person record in her inaugural collegiate season finishing fifth for the Red Hawks and 53 overall. Nancy Lopez-Lara was in the 60 spot overall and Julianna Reynaga ended in the 64 overall spot and rounded it out for the team. The women will compete next at the MSU Spartan Invite on September 13 2024.
