Lake Michigan College opened its home schedule on September 4 against a strong Muskegon Community College squad, ultimately falling 3–0 by scores of 25–18, 26–24, and 25–15. The Red Hawks pushed Muskegon to the brink in the second set, leading deep into the frame before the Jayhawks closed on a late run. Emma Lewis powered the LMC offense with six kills and a .462 hitting percentage, while Payton Miller and Tatyanna Hill added six kills each. Setter Randi Taylor paced the floor with 13 assists, and Grace Richardson anchored the defense with a team-high nine digs. Despite stretches of momentum, highlighted by a .312 team hitting percentage in the third set, the Red Hawks couldn't slow Muskegon's attack, led by Madison Babinec's match-high 21 kills.
