The Red Hawks Go 2-0 At The Home Quad This Weekend
The Lady Red Hawks hosted Harper and Owens this weekend at their home Quad.
In the fist match versus Harper, the team swept the Hawks in three winning 29-27, 25-15 and 25-23. Offensive players of the match were Jillian Bruckner with 17 kills and zero errors with a .680 hitting percentage. Payton Miller had six kills with only one error and a .500 hitting percentage. The defensive players of the game were Jessica Hand with 15 digs, four assists, and one ace while Kaylee McDaniel had 18 digs, one kill, one ace and 31 assists.
Next up the Red Hawks took on Owens who took third place at DIII NJCAA Nationals last year. The Red Hawks played big in game one and two winning 25-22 and 25-23. The Chiefs came back in game two with a 25-21 win and then again in game four 25-16. Both teams were tied with two wins each and a fifth set would determine the winner. The Red Hawks game out strong in game five with tough serving and a few key kills to earn the first five points. It was a battle back and forth match, but the Red Hawks proved to be the more consistent team earning the win 15-9 in the final game.
The team ended the weekend with a 2-0 record on their home court. Offensive players of the game were Jillian Bruckner 18 kills and 3 digs while Taylor Butler had 10 kills, a .316 hitting percentage, threeaces and two assists. Sammi Jurgensen earned 13 kills and a .333 hitting percentage. The defensive players of the game were Jessica Hand with 28 Digs, one kill, two aces and five assists while Peyton Oman earned 1 kill and 11 digs. Kaylee McDaniel led the team as our setter with 42 assists, 11 digs, one ace and three kills.
The Red Hawks are currently 10-17 overall and 5-3 in conference. Next up the team plays the KVCC Cougars at home Tuesday, October 15, 2024 and will continue to battle to earn a spot in the NJCAA Region XII District Tournament. We are Talon Tough !
