Red Hawks Take Vikings In Three
The women traveled to Glen Oaks Community College and defeated them in three sets.
In this second round of conference play, the team played consistently sweeping the Vikings in three 25-18, 25-13, 25-16. The Red Hawks started out a little slow in game one but began to gain momentum by the middle of the game. In game two, the women were leading 21-7 then the Vikings had a five-point run to get them to 12. Lake Michigan was able to finish the match 25-13. The momentum for the Red Hawks continued in game three and the Vikings were unable to keep up with the team's powerful offense and serving game.
The offensive players of the game were Sammi Jurgensen with nine kills, a .438 hitting percentage and one solo block. Jillian Bruckner earned nine kills as well with a .261 hitting percentage, one solo block, two aces, and three digs. The defensive player of the game was Jessica Hand with 10 digs, and three assists. Our Setter Kaylee McDaniel earned 25 assists, five digs, two aces and three kills.
This win put the team 5-3 in the MCCA Western Conference and are currently tied with SMC and Kellogg for second place. The team is currently 8-17 overall. This Saturday, October 12, 2024 the team will host Harper and Owens at 12:00 and 2:30pm.
