The Red Hawks defeat SMC
The Red Hawks took three sets out of four against the Roadrunners.
It was a great night of volleyball for the LMC Red Hawks. The team started out strong in game one with hitting consistency and effective serving winning the first game 25-19. In game two, the Red Hawks started with an early lead but the Roadrunners game back to tie the game 17-17. It was a battle back and forth, but the green team would secure the win 26-24 in set two. The women started out game three with a five point lead and continued to stay ahead most of the game finishing the third set 26-24. In the fourth set, the Red Hawks continued to put the pressure on the Roadrunners with aggressive serving and great blocking. The team fought hard and finished game four with a score of 25-22 securing the match win. Defensive players of the game were setter Kaylee McDaniel with 38 assists, three kills, and 24 digs while Jessica Hand, the libero, earned 20 digs, five assists and one ace. The offensive players of the game were Jillian Bruckner with 21 kills, a .370 hitting percentage, one ace, 14 digs, and one solo block. Mackenzie Ash contributed 8 kills, a .389 hitting percentage, two digs and five solo blocks while Taylor Butler earned 10 kills, 5 aces, and 6 digs. The Red Hawks are currently 3-2 in conference play and 4-14 overall. The team faces the Lansing Stars at home next Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
