The Red Hawks Travel to Parkland Tournament
The team traveled to Parkland this weekend and returned without any wins but lots of growth from the team.
On day one the Red Hawks played DMACC for their first match of the day. The team fought hard against a very efficient offensive team but in the end The Red Hawks lost 0-3 (16-25, 18-25, 18-25). The offensive player of the game was Jillian Bruckner with 8 kills, a .273 hitting percentage, one ace, and three digs. The defensive player of the match was Sophia Carrier with 11 digs and two assists.
Next up the team played the Black Hawks from Southeastern Community College. The Red Hawks battled again but were unable to secure the win against a very skilled Black Hawk team. The Red hawks fell in three (11-25, 13-25, 23-25). The offensive player of this match was Jillian Bruckner with 14 kills, .147 hitting percentage, one assist, and 10 digs. The defensive player of the match was setter Kaylee McDaniel with 22 digs, 20 assists, and two aces.
Day two of the Parkland invite the team played Hawkeye Community College and lost 1-3 (18-25, 21-25, 25-19, 17-25). The Hawkeye team was a well oiled machine but the Red hawks continued to grind securing the win in game three and fighting the entire time. The offensive leader for this match was Jillian Bruckner again with nine kills, four aces, and six digs. The defensive player of the match was Jessica Hand again with 24 digs, one kill, one ace, and two assists. The final match of the day ended in a five-games against Danville Community College. It was a battle from the beginning and continued throughout the entire match. Danville was able to win game one 25-20 and game two 25-23 however, the Red Hawks didn't give up and were able to secure a win in game three 25-18 and game four 25-14. This pushed the match to a fifth set. Both teams fought point for point but Danville secured the win in the end 15-12. The offensive player of the match was Olivia Still with seven kills, a .278 hitting percentage, and one dig. The defensive leader of the game was Jessica Hand with 22 digs, and four assists. The Red Hawks ended the weekend 0-4 and are currently 2-14 overall, and 1-2 in conference play. The team takes on the Ancilla Chargers this Tuesday at home in their fourth round of conference play.
