The Red Hawks go 0-2 at the SC4 Quad
The Lady Red Hawks traveled to St. Clair Community College to compete against East conference teams SC4 and Mott.
The team lost the first game to the skippers 18-25. The Red Hawks were able to rally and win set two 25-21 and set three 25-23. The Skippers battled hard in game three with a 25-17 win. Unfortunately, the Red Hawks could not get their momentum back and lost the fifth game 9-15. Offensive Stat leaders for the match were Jillian Bruckner with nine kills, .222 Hitting percentage, an ace, eight digs and two block assists. Taylor Butler had nine kills, .389 hitting percentage, a solo block and two block assists. Mackenzie Ash earned 10 kills, .240 hitting percentage, a solo block and two block assists. Defensive leaders were Kaylee McDaniel with 19 digs, and seven assists. Jess Hand earned 15 digs, and an ace.
In the next match, the team faced the Mott Bears. The Lady Red hawks dominated the first game securing the win with a score of 25-22. The Red Hawks continued to battle in game two and three but the Bears proved to be the more consistent team with a score of 25-14 in game two and a 25-16 win in game three. Game four the Red Hawks started out strong securing a lead but the Bears continued to put pressure on the team making it a very tight match. In the end Mott finished game four 25-23 and secured the win.
Offensive Stat leaders for the match were Jillian Bruckner nine kills, .267 hitting percentage, two assists, and seven digs. Taylor Butler hit with a .267 hitting percentage and earned seven kills, and a solo block, and a block assist. Olivia Still earned seven kills, a set assist and two digs. Jess Hand as our libero tallied three assists and 19 digs while Kaylee McDaniel earned 10 digs and 19 assists. It was a good performance by everyone on the team they just were not unable to secure the win.
The Red Hawks are currently 1-5 overall after their second event of the season.
The team travels to Muskegon on Thursday, September 5, 2024 to take on the Jayhawks at 6:30 pm.
