Women Start Strong At First Event
The Lady Red Hawks traveled to Rockford, Illinois for the OWT two day event.
On day one, the team lost to #10 McHenry 0-3 and then defeated Rend Lake 3-2 in a close five game match. On day two, the Red Hawks defeated Elgin 3-1 followed by defeating Saint Louis 3-1 as well.
The team finished the weekend with a 3-1 record. Olivia Deeb, as the setter, lead the team with 117 assists, 13 kills, seven aces and 34 digs. Abi Nunez led the offense with 38 kills, 5 aces, and 49 digs. Karissa Gest was second offensive leader with 32 kills, 5 aces, 26 digs. In the middle, Jermara Blackmon had 23 kills, seven solo blocks, six assists blocks while Faith Lewis earned 22 kills, two solo blocks and two assist blocks. Teagan Giannunzio led the defense with 58 digs, 14 assists, and three aces. The team starts the season with an overall record of 3-1. Go Red Hawks!
