Lake Michigan College battled on the road Tuesday but came up short against a strong Muskegon Community College squad, falling 8-0 on September 23. Goalkeeper Keira Suarez turned in a busy outing for the Red Hawks, making 12 saves while facing 20 shots on goal. LMC generated two shots in the match, including one on target from forward Ava Meyers. Gracei Pond also added a shot attempt as the Red Hawks looked to break through against MCC's defense. Despite long stretches of pressure, Lake Michigan held Muskegon to a single first-half goal and kept the contest within reach entering the break.
The Red Hawks continued to compete throughout the second half, recording three fouls while maintaining discipline and conceding no corner kicks on the day. Muskegon finished with 35 total shots, converting seven times in the second period to pull away.
Lake Michigan will use the experience gained in Tuesday's match as they prepare for their next conference match on September 27.
