Weekend Play Resulted In A Split

The women began their weekend with Kellogg Community College on Friday, October 5, 2019. The women were able to put pressure on the Lady Bruins in the first half which allowed Maya Ortiz to score a goal via a corner kick within the first 10 minutes. The ladies continued to put pressure on Kellogg but ended the first half up 1-0. In the second half, both teams competed. Finally the advantage went to Lake Michigan when Maci Wilson punted the ball and Kellogg scored their own goal putting the women up 2-0, winning the game.

On Sunday, Lake Michigan hosted Schoolcraft College and it was a back and forth match in the first half with neither team scoring. The Lady Ocelots came out in the second half and found a hole in the Lady Red Hawks defense and scored the only goal of the game. Lake Michigan had opportunities but could not connect to score. Victoria Smith had a stellar performance with 22 saves. Lizbeth Perez Negron Diaz lead the women with three shots as Maci Wilson and Maya Oritz both had one.

The women will travel to Jackson Community College on Saturday, October 12, 2019 with a 1:00 pm start time.
