Lake Michigan started off the game with a quick run and by the end of the first 10 minutes held a 19-14 advantage. In the second quarter the Lady Red Hawks could not pull away and St. Clair stayed close by hitting three point shots and getting to the foul line. The second quarter only saw a two point difference with Lake Michigan outscoring St. Clair 17-15 for a 36-29 lead at halftime.
Coming out of halftime, the Lady Skippers jumped on the Lady Red Hawks by hitting consecutive three point shots and as the quarter continued on, St. Clair eventually took a three point lead. But Lake Michigan fought back and got some defensive stops, in spite of not much scoring on their offensive end. Both teams scored 12 points in the third quarter and Lake Michigan led 48-41 going into the final quarter. Over the final 10 minutes, the Lady Red Hawks began to pick up their defensive intensity and got out to a 12 point lead, but St. Clair would not go away and tried to keep it close, but Lake Michigan outscored St. Clair 18-16 for the final 66-57 score.
Three players scored in double figures for Lake Michigan College led by Jayla Bibbs with 19 points. Samantha Jenkins who went 4-4 from the 3 point line added 18 points and Monae Palmer chipped in 11 points.
The Lady Red Hawks will end their three game home stand on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 when they host nationally ranked (#4 in the NJCAA Division III poll) Joliet Junior College. Tip-off is at 5:30 PM.
