Lady Red Hawks Sweep Glen Oaks
The Lady Red Hawks hosted Glen Oaks for their conference match up and took two wins on Tuesday.
In game one, it was the Vikings that scored the first run in the top of the second and then again in the fourth. The Lady Red Hawks struggled to find a way to get on base until the seventh inning. Anna Castelluccio led the women with a double and a single along with Kiarra Herson that had two hits with two RBI's. It was Madi Vollman that sealed the deal with a three run homer in the bottom of the seventh that gave the women the 5-2 win. Samantha Stewart and Alexis Love also hit singles. Karissa Gilpin took the win on the mound striking out two but only allowing two earned runs.
The mojo continued in the second game for Lake Michigan as they scored all four innings that they hit. The women that led the slugfest for the Lady Red Hawks were Anna Castelluccio with three doubles and Kiarra Herson, who had two singles and a line drive home run with two RBI's. Angela Schmidt hit two doubles for the women while Halle Jennings hit a triple with three RBI's. Madi Vollman took the win by striking out three and only allowing four hits with one earned run. It was full team effort as the defense was on point with great plays including those made by short stop Sydney Payne and an amazing diving catch made by Sophie Hover.
The women's games this weekend were canceled due to unforseen circumstances. They will host Ancilla College on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 3:00 pm for a conference double header. Due to fan limitations the games will be streamed on the Lake Michigan College YouTube channel.
