The first game was scoreless for the first three innings before the Lady Red Hawks were able to score four runs in the top of the fourth. Mid Michigan answered back in the bottom of the fourth scoring their only two runs of the game. Lake Michigan was able to then push two across the plate in the top of the fifth and sixth innings. They were also able to hold the Lady Lakers and come out with the 8-2 win.
Kiarra Herson was the winning pitcher with only allowing four hits, striking out nine batters, and walked two. It was a slug fest for the women as Brenna Madry hit her first grand slam of the season having four RBI's and she also had two singles. Jaidyn Hutsell also hit a homer with two RBI's and had a single. Addison Warner was able to come back after an injury and hit a home run right out of the gate. Herson aided the women with a double and a single while Cassidy Zavoral hit two singles.
The second game ended like the first with the Lady Red Hawks on fire scoring five runs in the top of the first, six runs in the top of the second, and two runs in the top of the third while shutting down the Lady Lakers those three innings. There were not able to score in the top of the fourth and Mid Michigan was able to score a single run. Lake Michigan stepped it back up in the top of the fifth and scored five more runs. Mid Michigan tried to scratch their way to continuing the game by scoring three in the bottom of the fifth but the Lady Red Hawks had clinched the win with their 18 runs making the score 18-4.
Jaidyn Hutsell took the win with allowing five hits, four strike outs, and only walked two batters. Hutsell also blasted a homer with two singles and she had five RBI's. Gabby Rothrock had two singles with four RBI's while Brenna Madry hit two doubles and a single with two RBI's. Sydney Gardner hit a double and a single with an RBI as Anna Castellucio hit a double and two singles with an RBI. Coach John Jewell was ecstatic with his team stating that "We have played eight games in the last five days and have outscored our opponents 86 to 32. We have only committed 10 errors in 49 innings of play. The girls are really gelling".
The women will host Glen Oaks Community College on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 with a 3:00 pm start.
