The game started off with Lansing scoring the first run in the top of the first inning. The Lady Red Hawks could not wake up their bats until the bottom of the third taking the lead by scoring three runs. The Lady Stars tied the game in the top of the fourth scoring two runs but it was short lived as Lake Michigan was able to push four more across the plate in the bottom of the inning. Neither team could score in the fifth and it was the Lady Red Hawks who scored one more in the sixth. The women were able to shut down Lansing in the seventh and took the 8-3 win.
Kiarra Herson took the win allowing seven hits, one walk, and three strike outs. Jaidyn Hutsell lead the women with a home run, a double, and a single with five RBI's. Anna Castellucio blasted a double and a single with a RBI while Jordyn Swinehart hit two singles with a RBI. Herson hit a double and a single as Cassidy Zavoral hit two singles.
The second game started out like the first with the Lady Stars scoring two runs in the first inning. They were able to push two more across in the top of two making the score 4-0. The Lady Red Hawks were able to put their first run up in the bottom of the second making the score 1-4. The third inning was scoreless and Lansing added another run in the top of the fourth and fifth innings. Lake Michigan began to make a come back in the bottom of the fifth scoring two more runs. Everyone remained quiet in the sixth and in the seventh inning the Lady Red Hawks tried their final push but were only able to score one more run losing 3-6.
Jaidyn Hutsell took the loss allowing eight hits with four walks but struck out three batters. Hutsell lead the women offensively with a double and a single and an RBI. Tegan Bays hit a single with an RBI while Jenna Walter, Brenna Madry, and Cassidy Zavoral all had singles.
The women will travel to Mid-Michigan Community College on Saturday, March 6, 2019 for a 1:00 pm start time.
