Lady Red Hawks Sweep Lady Raiders
The Lady Red Hawks traveled to Grand Rapids Community College and ended the night with a sweep defeating the Lady Raiders 1-0 and 9-1 in five innings.
It was a scoreless first game for five straight innings. The Lady Red Hawks were able to push across the only run of the game in the top of the sixth via a single by Jaidyn Hutsell. The Lady Raiders could not answer back in the seventh and Lake Michigan took the 1-0 win.
Hutsell dominated on the mound pitching all seven innings and only allowed one hit, two walks, and struck out 10 Grand Rapids hitters. Anna Castellucio lead the women with two singles as Cassidy Zavoral and Jenna Walter both hit singles.
Lake Michigan began the second game on fire as they scored the first two runs in the top of the first inning. The Lady Raiders answered back in the bottom of the first as scored their only run of the night. The Lady Red Hawks were able to score three in the second and everyone fell quite in the third and fourth innings. Lake Michigan clinched the win in the fifth inning by scoring four more runs and shutting the Lady Raider offense down.
Brenna Madry aided the women by hitting a double and a single with two RBI's. Cassidy Zavoral had two singles with three RBI's while Kiarra Herson hit two singles with two RBI's. Jaidyn Hutsell hit a single with a RBI while Jordyn Swinehart hit a single. Herson was on the mound holding the Lady Raiders to only five hits, two walks, and struck out six batters.
The women will host Muskegon Community College on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 1:00 pm.
