Lady Red Hawks Split With Lady Saints

The Lady Red Hawks traveled to Lurleen B Wallace and ended the day with a split winning the first game 11-2 and losing the second game 2-10 both in six innings.

The Lady Red Hawks started out on fire in the first game of their double header on Thursday afternoon. The began scoring the first run against the Lady Saints. Lurleen B Wallace responded back in the second inning scoring three runs. This did not deter Lake Michigan as they bounced back in the top of the third adding three more runs to the board. It was a scoreless fourth inning with a strong finish for the Lady Red Hawks in the fifth and sixth innings scoring two and four runs respectively. 

Jaidyn Hutsell was on the mound with four strike outs and only allowed four hits. At the plate Brenna Madry and Jordyn Swinehart both had two singles with two RBI's while Cassidy Zavoral had two singles and one RBI. Adianna Rangel had a double with an RBI as Anna Castelluccio hit three singles with an RBI. Gabby Rothrock also had two singles with an RBI while Jenna Walter and Kiarra Herson both had two singles. Lake Michigan only had two errors compared to the Lady Saints four errors. The woman defeated their opponent 11-2 in six innings. 

The second game differed from the first, as the majority of the Lake Michigan bats stayed quiet. It was the Lady Saints that scored three runs in the first inning and then added four more in the second while the Lake Red Hawks couldn't produce a run. Lake Michigan answered back in the third scoring their only two runs of the game. The Lady Saints went on another run in the fourth scoring one run and then two more in the sixth to defeat the Lady Red Hawks 10-2.

Cassidy Zavoral dominated in game two with three singles and one RBI. Jenna Walter and Kiarra Herson had two singles while Jordyn Swinehart ended with a single. Kiarra Herson was on the mound striking out two batters but allowed 10 hits and two walks.

Coach John Jewell stated "that in the first game their bats came alive and gave a glimpse of what is to come during the season and what they are capable of on and off the field".

The women will head back to the diamond on Friday, March 8, 2019 for their last leg of their spring trip playing Coastal Alabama for a double header. The first pitch will be thrown at 2:00 pm
