Lake Michigan hosted Cuyahoga Community College in their second match of the season losing 2-5.
The Red Hawks did not expect the fast pace of the Challenger offense and allowed a goal within the first few minutes of the game. The men began to pick up tempo and it was a miscue that allowed the second goal scored by Cuyahoga. The men did not lose determination as Mark Resendez (FR/Hartford, MI) was able to connect with the ball in the direction of Andrew Kangas (SO/St. Joseph, MI) who was able to head the ball for the first Lake Michigan goal. The Challengers were able to find openings and fired off three more goals ending the first half 5-1.
In the second half, Lake Michigan's Andrew Kangas scored in the first few minutes making the score 2-5. The teams continued to defend and there was not another goal scored in the second half.
Tariku Freeland (FR/Union, MI) and Mark Resendez attempted two shots the on goal each while Ted Langat (SO/Nairobi, Kenya), Tony Dennis (SO/Kalamazoo, MI), and Trenton Gless (FR/Cassopolis, MI) were able to get off one shot each. Kangas dominated the offense with two goals out of three attempts.
