Red Hawks Drop Home Contest to Waubonsee, 96-79
The Lake Michigan College Red Hawks battled throughout the night but couldn’t overcome a fast-paced offensive attack from Waubonsee Community College Chiefs, falling 96–79 in nonconference action.
Waubonsee jumped out to an early lead, scoring 54 first-half points to take control at the break. Lake Michigan College responded with improved energy in the second half, but the deficit proved too much to erase.
Devon Shelton led the Red Hawks with 21 points, knocking down five three-pointers, while Javon Swansey added 14 points and seven rebounds. Andrew Leopold chipped in 13 points, and Javaughn Kuykendoll provided a boost off the bench with 10 points and six boards.
Despite shooting 50 percent from beyond the arc, Lake Michigan College struggled to slow Waubonsee's efficient offense. The Red Hawks will look to bounce back as they continue their early-season schedule.
