Lake Michigan College Grinds Out 91–88 Road Win at Kellogg Community College
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (Jan. 24, 2026) – Lake Michigan College earned a hard-fought 91–88 road victory over Kellogg Community College on Saturday, improving to 11-5 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
After taking a narrow 36–33 lead into halftime, the Red Hawks matched Kellogg’s 55-second-half points and held firm in the closing minutes to secure the three-point win.
Caleb Gatewood led the way with 18 points and a game-high 10 rebounds, battling inside all afternoon. Malik Raines added 17 points, knocking down three three-pointers and going 8-of-10 from the free-throw line. Andrew Leopold contributed 15 points, seven rebounds, and four assists in a strong all-around performance.
Lake Michigan dominated the glass, outrebounding Kellogg 43–40, including 14 offensive boards that led to key second-chance opportunities. The Red Hawks also capitalized at the free-throw line, converting 29-of-41 attempts to help offset 37.8 percent shooting from the field.
Champ Hayden finished with 10 points and five rebounds, while Javaughn Kuykendoll and Karlos Berry each added eight points. Defensively, Lake Michigan forced 15 turnovers and recorded 10 steals to disrupt Kellogg’s rhythm.
Kellogg was led by Marvin Schindler’s 22 points and Damion Green-Richardson’s 15-point, 13-rebound effort, but the Red Hawks made enough plays down the stretch to secure the conference road win.
Lake Michigan will look to build on the momentum as conference play continues.
