Lake Michigan College Holds Off Glen Oaks Community College in 92–89 Thriller
Lake Michigan College picked up a hard-fought 92–89 road victory over Glen Oaks Community College on Saturday afternoon, holding off a late push to secure the conference win.
The Red Hawks built a 48–43 halftime lead behind balanced scoring and strong perimeter shooting. Glen Oaks answered in the second half, outscoring Lake Michigan 46–44, but the Red Hawks made key plays down the stretch to seal the three-point win.
Malik Raines led Lake Michigan with 21 points, four assists, and three steals. Champ Hayden added 20 points, connecting on five three-pointers while contributing seven rebounds and five assists in an all-around performance.
The Red Hawks received a big boost from their bench, highlighted by Javaughn Kuykendoll’s 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting and five rebounds. Devon Shelton chipped in 12 points with three made three-pointers, and Karlos Berry controlled the tempo with a team-high seven assists.
Lake Michigan knocked down 15 three-pointers and recorded 23 assists on 31 made field goals. Defensively, the Red Hawks forced 23 Glen Oaks turnovers, helping offset the Vikings’ efficient 54 percent shooting from the field and 48.3 percent mark from beyond the arc.
With the win, Lake Michigan College continues to gain momentum as conference play intensifies.
