Lake Michigan College could not take advantage of extra opportunities enough to knock off a strong shooting performance from Kellogg Community College. They Red Hawks did dominate certain areas and stretches of the game, but the Bruins continued their onslaught from outside of the perimeter to take the battle.
The Red Hawks started strong, getting the ball to the basket for easy inside finishes and created extra space to help their early shooting. Kellogg weathered the storm though and fought back throughout the first half. As the half continued, the Bruins started to find their shooting stroke and relied on it to take a 41 to 37 lead to the half.
The shooting continued for the Bruins in the second half, where they connected on 9 of 14 three point attempts, as they spread the margin to as many as 19. The Red Hawks gave one last push, bringing the score within 13 with 3 minutes to play, but the Bruins wisely slowed the pace and held on for a 95 to 78 victory.
The Red Hawks were led by Sheddrick Porter's 23 points, 4 assists, and 7 rebounds while Khaire Williams also tallied 23 points and 3 rebounds. Adrien Bucha-Moore and Luc Meyer both added 10 points off the bench and Jaguar Jackson contributed 5 assists and 7 rebounds.
The Red Hawks travel to Kalamazoo Valley Community College on Saturday, February 9, 2019 with a 3:00 pm tip.
