Red Hawks End Night With A Big Win
The Lake Michigan College Men’s Basketball team hosted the Joliet Junior College Wolves on Tuesday night in their final home non-conference game of the season.
In a game that got off to a slow start, Luc Meyer was able to get the Red Hawks going. He scored first from outside on a three-pointer and followed in the next possession with a fade away jump shot in the post to tally the first five points for the Red Hawks. The Wolves also battled on the boards and still held the advantage by a point. The first half continued at a slower pace, but the Red Hawks were able to pass Joliet and head to halftime holding a 34-27 advantage.
The second half saw a major change in the pace of the game, as Lake Michigan came out much more aggressive and were able to find opportunities early in possessions first at the rim and later on passes out to the three-point line. They were able to obtain stops on the defensive end, combined with the more forceful offense, powered the Red Hawks to a 30-4 run in the middle of the second half. The lead grew as large as 36 and the Red Hawks finished the night with a 83-59 win.
Great balance and efficiency were keys to the Red Hawks success. As a team for the game shooting 52% from the field, 48% from three-point range, and tallying 19 assists. Austin Dukesherer lead the way with 16 points, Justin Henderson added 14 on a perfect 7 of 7 from the field. Sheddrick Porter and Meyer both had 11 points while Adrien Bucha-Moore and Jon Bowman had 10 each. Jordan Hogans provided 6 assists, Porter added 5, and Jaguar Jackson had 4.
The Red Hawks break for the holidays and return to action on Saturday, December 29, 2018 as they travel to South Suburban, the current number one team in the nation, for a 4:00 p.m. start as they concluded their non-conference schedule.
