The Lake Michigan College Red Hawks men’s basketball team faced off against the St. Clair County Community College on Friday night. The Skippers came in receiving votes in the national rankings and holding a 9-1 record on the season.

The Red Hawks jumped out to an early lead powered by two quick buckets by Justin Henderson and two early three pointers for Adrien Bucha-Moore. The Red Hawks lead ballooned to eight early in the first half, but the Skippers were able to swing the tide later in the half. Their fast pace action led to nine first half three pointers and a 12 point lead heading in to halftime (43-31).

The Skippers continued their strong play early in the second half and built a 19-point lead with 11:20 left to play. A few adjustments for the Red Hawks changed the direction of the game. A strong zone defense and a balance attack brought the Red Hawks back in the game. Jon Bowman provided a major spark off the bench scoring all 13 of his points in the second half. Austin Dukesherer connected on back to back three point field goals and the score narrowed to four in the closing minutes.

The Skippers displayed their resiliency late in the game by making clutch baskets and free throws down the stretch to hold of the surging Red Hawks leading to a final score of 84-72. The Red Hawks balanced attack showed with Bucha-Moore's 19 points and Bowman's 13 points.  Dukesherer had 11 points while Luc Meyer and Jordan Hogans had 11 points and 5 assists each.

The Red Hawks will host the Joliet Junior College Wolves on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 with a 7:30 start.
