Kuntz Headed to Morehead State University
Roman Kuntz signs with Morehead State University to continue his athletic and academic career.
Not even a pandemic could hold back sophomore Roman Kuntz from reaching his goals of signing a National Letter of Intent at a prestigious university like Morehead State. Although his Red Hawk 2020 spring season was cut short, he contributed in seven wins of the teams 10 games. He had a .310 batting average, one home run, scoring 10 runs, nine RBI's, and one stolen base. Roman was then able to head to the Northwoods League in the summer where he played for the Great Lakes Resorters, out of Traverse City. There he continued his stellar performance.
Roman is not only a talented athlete but also gets the job done in the classroom. He will graduate in the spring term of 2021 with an Associates of Arts degree with an emphasis in education. Kuntz stated that "he chose Morehead because of the coaching staff and the winning tradition around the baseball program and the sound education. They have had great success and have an awesome baseball environment at the school." Head coach Zak Wasserman couldn't be prouder of his Red Hawk as he stated, "we are so proud of Roman and his opportunity to move on and play at a Division I baseball program like Morehead State. He has done nothing but work hard and develop since he stepped foot on campus in the fall of 2019. His big left handed bat will be a great asset to the Eagles and we couldn't be happier for him and his family!" Roman also reciprocated by stating that "I am very blessed to have the coaches, teammates, and support from staff and advisors at LMC. Without them I would not be able to continue my baseball career and education at the highest level of NCAA athletics." Stay tuned for more great things to come for this humble athlete, as he will be a force to be reckoned with.
The team is patiently waiting and gearing up to take on the 2021 season. The Red Hawks will begin preparation on January 4, 2021.
