It was a scoreless first inning in the first game. Lake Michigan was able to score in the top of the second but could not hold off the Vikings as they scored two runs in the bottom of the inning. Glen Oaks scored another two runs in the third. The Red Hawks tried to pry their way back in the game scoring two runs in the top of the fourth but it was short lived as the Vikings scored another run in the bottom of the inning. Lake Michigan turned things around by scoring two more in the top of the fifth but then busted it open as they scored 10 runs in the top of the sixth and took the game 15-5 in six innings.
Nick Henman obtained the win pitching six innings allowing 10 hits, six walks, and four strike outs. Dalton Riddle hit two home runs for the men while Chad Adkerson hit a triple and a double. Aaron Federman and Cole Searles both hit doubles. Owen Benson was able to hit three singles.
The second game began in favor of Lake Michigan, as they score two runs in the first, one in the third, and three in the fourth. It appeared that the men had the game in the bag but as they were able to score two more in the sixth. The Vikings were not going away quietly as they began rally in the bottom of the sixth and scored seven runs. This was not enough as both teams could not score in the bottom of the seventh and the Red Hawks took the 8-7 win.
Dashawn Hureskin received the win for the men. Tyler Roberts came in for relief while Tyler Pursley obtained the save getting the last three outs. Cole Searles hit a home run for the men while Danny Mahoney hit two singles with two RBI's. Marcus Bradford hit three singles for the men.
The third game did not go in favor of the Red Hawks, even though it began differently. Lake Michigan was able to score one in the first but it was short lived as the Vikings tied the game in the top of the second. Glen Oaks then scored three in the fourth, one in the fifth, and seven in the sixth defeating the Red Hawks.
Nick Frodl took the loss for the Red Hawks. Zach Banks and Tyler Pursley tried to come in to save the game but fell short as well. Ryan Remus hit a double while Cole Searles hit two singles with an RBI.
The last game of the series went back into the Red Hawks favor. Both teams scored a run in the first inning. Lake Michigan scored another two runs in the bottom of the second taking the lead but the Vikings tied it back up scoring two runs in the top of the third. Both teams were scoreless in the fourth and it was the Red Hawks that scored three more in the bottom of the third. They were able to hold Glen Oaks from scoring another run and won the game 6-3.
Marcus Bradford took the win pitching all seven innings striking out four batters. Chad Adkerson, Dalton Riddle, and Cole Searles all had two singles. Danny Mahoney, Owen Benson, Aaron Federman, and Bradford all had singles with RBI's.
The men will host Ancilla College on Friday, April 19, 2019 with a 2:00 pm start.
