The men hosted Kellogg Community College this afternoon and fell 0-9 in the first game and 0-15 in five innings in the second game.
It was a scoreless first game until the third inning when the Bruins were able to score five runs. Kellogg then scored three in the fifth and one in the sixth inning. The Red Hawks remained scoreless for the game and lost 0-9.
Dalton Riddle (FR/Buchanan, MI) began the game and allowed five hits, one strike out, and gave up four out of five runs while he was on the mound for three and a third innings. Zach Grishaber (SO/Niles, MI) entered into the game and allowed three hits had three strikes outs. Although three runs scored, he did not allow a single earned run. Kyle Liddle (FR/Saranac, MI) then came in for relief and struck out one, allowed one hit, and one earned run. Daniel Mahoney finished the game pitching one inning and did not allow any hits and no runs scored.
Brady Duval (FR/Niles, MI) led the team offensively hitting a double and Damion Pompey (SO/Cassopolis, MI) also hit a single.
The second game looked a lot like the first as the Bruins scored two runs right of the gate in the first inning. They then gained momentum and pushed across nine more runs in the second, three in the third, and one in the fourth inning. The Red Hawks continued to struggle at the plate as they weren't able to score a single run.
Hunter Nagle (SO/Ottawa Lake, MI) began the game and allowed seven hits, one strike out, and gave up eight earned runs in the one and a third inning. Zach Banks entered the game and allowed 3 earned runs which brought in Cole Searles (FR/Niles, MI), who only allowed one hit and did not allow anyone to score. Nicholas Frodl (FR/Cedar Springs, MI) came in for relief as he allowed four hits, four earned runs, and struck out one batter. Brady Duval came in to close and was successful only allowing two hits with no one reaching the plate.
Brant Rago (FR/Berrien Springs, MI) led the men with two singles as Damion Pompey and Dalton Riddle both had singles.
The men will travel to Kellogg Community College on Thursday, April 12, 2018 for a double header at 2:00 pm.
