Red Hawks Fall To The Jayhawks

The Red Hawks traveled to Muskegon Community College and lost the series losing 1-2 in the first game and 1-8 in the second.

The game started out as a battle as both teams were not able to score within the first two innings. Lake Michigan scored first in the top of the third but the Jayhawks answered back tying the score 1-1 at the end of the inning. Muskegon was able to score another run in the bottom of the fourth. Although the Red Hawks had opportunities they were not able to push another run across the plate falling 1-2.

Hunter Nagle (SO/Ottawa Lake, MI) pitched a great game only allowing one earned run, four hits, and striking out two batters.

Damion Pompey (SO/Cassopolis, MI) led the men with three singles as Dalton Riddle (FR/Buchanan, MI) had the solo RBI scoring Pompey. Cole Searles (FR/Niles, MI) had success at the plate with a double and a single as Chad Adkerson (FR/Buchanan, MI), Zachary Banks (FR/St. Thomas, ON), and Brady Duval (FR/Niles, MI) all hit singles.

The second game began like the first game ended with Muskegon scoring in the first run in the bottom of the first inning. The Red Hawks continued to struggle at the plate and it was the Jayhawks that produced a run in the fourth. Lake Michigan was able to score in the fifth but Muskegon began a rally scoring five more runs. The Red Hawks still had difficulty offensively in the sixth and allowed the final Jayhawk run in the bottom of the sixth. The men fell 1-8 in seven innings.

Marcus Bradford (FR/St.Joseph, MI) started for the men and was able to stay in the game for four innings. He allowed eight hits, two strike outs, and gave up six earned runs before Cole Searles entered the game for relief. Searles allowed four hits, a strike out, and two earned runs.

Zach Grishaber was able to hit a single and scored from Chad Adkerson, who obtained the RBI. Damion Pompey, Dalton Riddle, Cole Searles, and Brady Duval all had singles for the men.
