Red Hawks Split With The Stars

Red Hawks Split With The Stars

Lake Michigan hosted Lansing Community College on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 and split winning the first game 1-0 and lost the second 3-12.

It was a pitchers dual in the first game as neither team could score a run until the fifth inning. Zachary Banks (FR/St. Thomas, ON) took the mound and battled for seven innings only allowing one hit. Lansing was able to load the bases on a few occasions but the strong defensive play by the Red Hawks shut them down from scoring any runs.

In the fifth inning, Brant Rago (FR/Berrien Springs, MI) ripped a single and Cole Searles (FR/Niles, MI) was hit by a pitch to move Rago over. Danny Mahoney hit a sacrifice fly which allowed Rago to score their only run.

In the second game, it looked like the Red Hawks were going to dominate scoring the first two runs in the second inning. The Stars answered back in the third scoring three runs. In the fourth, Lansing pushed six runs across the plate but the Red Hawks answered back scoring one run. The Stars came back again in the fifth scoring two and one more in the seventh. Lake Michigan was not able to produce any more runs and fell 3-12 in seven innings.

Tyler Roberts (FR/Barrie,ON) started the game and allowed six hits and five earned runs before Nicholas Frodl (FR/Cedar Springs, MI) entered the game in the fourth inning. Frodl allowed one hit although four unearned runs scored due to Lake Michigan errors. Brady Duval (FR/Niles, MI) then entered the game and gave up three hits with two earned runs before Kyle Liddle (FR/Saranac, MI) came in to get out of the inning only allowing one hit. Marcus Bradford (FR/St.Joseph, MI) finished the game allowing two hits and one run.

Kyle Liddle led the men with two hits and two RBI's as Danny Mahoney also had two hits. Cole Searles hit a single while Dalton Riddle (FR/Buchanan, MI), Zach Grishaber, and Brady Reynolds (FR/Centreville, MI) all scored a run.

The men will host Muskegon Community College on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 2:00 pm for a Michigan Community College Western Conference match up.
