The Red Hawks traveled to South Georgia State College this afternoon and fell 5-15 in 8 innings.
After a long drive south, the men stepped out and began their spring opener against the Hawks, who began their season on February 27, 2018. Their first outing was a one nine inning game that ended in the eighth inning due to a run rule. Hunter Nagle (SO/Ottawa Lake, MI) recorded the loss as he pitched two and a third innings and allowed seven runs with two strike outs. This brought Zach Grishaber (SO/Niles, MI) to the mound, who allowed eight runs in five and two thirds innings and was able to strike out four batters.
The Red Hawks scored two runs in the first inning and one in the second. The men remained silent until the seventh when they were able to push two more across the plate but fell short losing 5-15.
Dalton Riddle (FR/Buchanan, MI) led the men with two singles and three RBI's while Ryan Remus (FR/Stevensville, MI) had his first double of the year and a single. Cole Searles (FR/Niles, MI), Brady Reynolds (FR/Centreville, MI), and Grishaber all had singles as Damion Pompey (SO/Cassopolis, MI) and Marcus Bradford (FR/St.Joseph, MI) both had RBI's.
The men will travel back to South Georgia State College for a double header tomorrow afternoon with a 1:00 pm start time.
