The Lady Red Hawks began their weekend on Friday, August 23, 2019 at the McHenry Community College. Their first match was against the College of DuPage and the first set was unsteady as the women fell 16-25. It did not take long for the women to gain ground as the won the second set 25-23. They continued their winning streak defeating the Lady Chaparral's 25-16 and 25-22 obtaining the win.
Their second match of the night was against McHenry Community College and they battled back and forth with the Lady Scots but fell 23-25. They then fell in the second set 20-25 and battled in the third set winning 25-23. The women continued to compete in the fourth set but fell 19-25.
They began their second day with Kishwaukee Community College. Lake Michigan came to compete but fell short in the first set losing 26-28. They came back in the second set winning 16-25 but then fell in the third and fourth set 22-25.
The Lady Red Hawks picked up their intensity in the second game of the day against Spoon River Community College defeating them 25-15 in the first and second sets. They then finished with the win taking the final set 25-12.
MacKenzie Buck led with women with 37 kills, 2 solo blocks, and 6 assist blocks. Aliyah Woodman had 23 kills, 6 aces, 10 digs, 1 solo block, and 9 assist blocks while Megan Adkerson and Mykaille Williams both had 22 kills. Emma Ruppel also had 15 kills, 86 assists, 7 aces, and 17 digs as Victoria Galindo had 1 kill, 11 assists, 4 aces, and 25 digs.
The women will host Glen Oaks Community College on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 6:30 pm for their home conference opener.
