The Lady Red Hawks hosted Ancilla College and Harper College today for a tri-match that ended in two Lake Michigan losses.
The women started the morning off with Ancilla College. They began the slow as the Lady Chargers defeated them 25-10 in the first set. Lake Michigan woke up in the second set but still fell 23-25. The women snapped into sync in the third set and defeated Ancilla 25-21. In the fourth set, the women reverted back to the first and fell 11-25.
The second match up of the day was Ancilla College and Harper College. The Lady Hawks came to play as they defeated the Lady Chargers in three sets. (25-14, 25-19, 25-17)
The final game of the day was a battle that ended in five sets. The Lady Red Hawks came out strong winning the first set 25-21. Harper College turned around in the second set and defeated the Lady Red Hawks 13-25. Lake Michigan fought back in the third set winning 25-21. The Lady Hawks retaliated back and won the fourth set 25-18. This led the women into the final fifth set. Harper began strong scoring the first seven points consecutively. The gap was too large for the Lady Red Hawks to catch up and they fell 11-15.
Isabella Vaz (SO/Berrien Springs, MI) led the women at the net with 28 kills and she also had 2 assists, 1 ace, and 24 digs. Alexandra Polishchuk (FR/Berrien Springs, MI) was right behind her with 24 kills, 2 assists, 2 aces, and 17 digs while Katie Gates (SO/Stevensville, MI) had 13 kills, 2 assists, and 1 block. Brianna Conklin (FR/Paw Paw, MI) had 11 kills, 5 assists, and 5 blocks as Kenzie Pulliam (FR/Niles, MI) had 4 kills, 2 assists, 1 ace, 30 digs, and 1 block. Emma Ruppel (FR/Berrien Springs, MI) aided the team with 64 assists, 18 digs, and 7 kills as Taylor Strauss (SO/Buchanan, MI) had 59 digs, 3 kills, 4 assists, and 2 aces.
The women will host Jackson College on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 6:30 pm.
