Red Hawks Struggle To Find Offense

The Lake Michigan College Red Hawks hosted Kalamazoo Valley Community College in their Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) Western Conference home opener on Wednesday night and fell 63-47.
Red Hawks Struggle To Find Offense

The first half was slow moving as the Cougars took an early lead by getting second chance opportunities and converting early in their offense. The Red Hawks struggled to find their shooting touch as they went 1 for 14 from three-point range in the half. Kalamazoo Valley used their tough defense to take a 26-19 lead to the half.

The second half started out like the first half, as the Red Hawks were unable to get to anything going early and the lead expanded to 22 for the Cougars. A quick run brought the Red Hawks back within ten with four minutes remaining, led by aggressive attacks to the basket from Sheddrick Porter and Jaguar Jackson. The lead was too large to complete the comeback though, and the Red Hawks fell to 1-2 in the conference.

Porter led the Red Hawks with 16 points and 5 rebounds, Austin Dukesherer added 10 points, and Tyler Voth provided strong minutes with 4 points and 4 rebounds off the bench.

The Red Hawks travel to Mount Pleasant on Saturday, January 12, 2019 for a 3:00 pm start.
