The men traveled to Lansing Community College and fell short losing 71-82. The men remain in 3rd place in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) Western Conference with a record of 9-6 and an overall record of 13-13.
The Red Hawks came out strong in the first half getting to the basket early and taking a 18-10 lead. Their offense began to dwindle as the Stars' 2-3 zone slowed the men down and they left Lake Michigan down by four points (33-37) at the end of the half. The men shot 83% from the free throw line while hitting 40% from outside the perimeter and 31% from inside the paint.
The Stars came out in the second half ready as they began to gain confidence and their interior play took over which overflowed into their three-point shots. The Red Hawks had difficulty keeping up with Lansing's pace and could not connect with the basket. The men struggled from outside the perimeter going only 1 for 9 (11%), and shot 71% from the free throw line. The were able to pick up their points inside the paint shooting 42% but it was not enough to close the gap on the Stars and fell 71-82.
Gavin Rasler (SO/Niles, MI) led the men offensively with 21 points and defensively with 11 rebounds. Deion Gatson (SO/Cassopolis, MI) had 18 points while Malik Hall (SO/Benton Harbor, MI) had 8 and both men had 7 rebounds. Bryce Saxton (SO/Cassopolis, MI) was also able to contribute 11 points and 4 rebounds for the Red Hawks.
