The men hosted Grand Rapids Community College this evening and fell 89-104.
The Red Hawks came out strong in the beginning of the first half against the Raiders. The lead exchanged four times in this period but it was short lived as Grand Rapids were able follow through with their shots and connected with the basket as Lake Michigan struggled. The men did not give up and continued to battle but could not catch a break and left the court down 35-49.
The men shot 32% from inside the paint, 22% from outside of the perimeter, and 66% from the free throw line.
The second half was much like the end of the first half as the men had a difficult time stopping the Raiders defensively. The Red Hawks also struggled on the offensive side of the game. Grand Rapids continued to spread the gap and the men the fell short at the end 89-104.
The men shot 41% from the inside of the perimeter, 32% from the three point range, and 75% from the free throw line.
Gavin Rasler (SO/Niles, MI) led the men with 33 points and 8 rebounds. Bryce Saxton (SO/Cassopolis, MI) scored 13 points while Austin Dukesherer (FR/Grandville, MI) and Khaire Williams (FR/Detroit, MI) scored 11 points each.
The men will host Mid Michigan Community College on Monday, February 19, 2018 at 7:30 pm.
