The men hosted Kellogg Community College and came out with the dominating 79-57 win.
The first half was a back and forth battle with the leading changing once and the score was tied twice. Lake Michigan held their own and finished the half up 37-25. The Red Hawks shot 60% from the free throw line, 40% from the three point range, and 32% from inside the perimeter. The men also caused the Bruins to commit 12 turnovers.
In the second half, the Red Hawks continued to hold the lead and did not look back. They were strong offensively and defensively and held Kellogg at bay. They were able to shot 43% from inside, and 62% from the free throw line to clinch the 79-57 win.
James Smith (SO/Chicago, IL) carried the men with 22 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal. Malik Hall (SO/Benton Harbor, MI) had 17 points and led in rebounds with 11 while Adam Nicks (SO/Indianapolis, IN) had 15 points. Ajani Parker (FR/Aurora, IL ) also had 10 points and 5 rebounds.
The men will travel to Glen Oaks on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 7:30 pm.
