The men traveled to Mott Community College this evening and fell short 90-94 battling a strong offensive team.
The men came out dominating the Bears in the first half out scoring them 51-39. The Red Hawks were 62% from inside and outside of the paint compared to Mott's 33% and 25% shooting percentages. Lake Michigan was also successful from the free throw line hitting 6-6 of their shots.
The momentum of the game began to shift in the second half as Mott began to turn up their intensity. The lead changed six times as well as a tied ball game but it was the Bears that were able to reach the free throw line more frequently in the last part of the game. This resulted in putting them at an advantage over the Red Hawks, as they executed their shots. Lake Michigan also had difficulty connecting with the rim from the three point range only shooting 50% while shooting 48% in the paint. They struggled at the free throw line scoring 8 of their 14 attempts. Mott outscored the men 55-39, which led to the 90-94 loss.
Although the game did not end in Lake Michigan's favor, several men had an exceptional night. Gavin Rasler (SO/Niles, MI) scored 32 points while also having 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks and 1 steal. Deion Gatson (SO/Cassopolis, MI) had an amazing all around game with 13 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists, 1 block, and 4 steals. Austin Dukesherer (FR/Grandville, MI) was able to produce 12 points as Adrien Bucha-Moore (FR/Dowagiac, MI) came in right behind him with 11 points, 1 rebound, and 4 assists. Bucha-Moore and Malik Hall (SO/Benton Harbor, MI) both went 4-4 at the line.
