The men faced Kankakee Community College this evening at home and fell 79-90.
Lake Michigan won the tip-off this evening but it was the Cavaliers that scored first. Their lead did not last long in the first quarter as the men continued to compete tying the score several times. It was also a continuous battle between the teams as the lead changed nine times throughout the afternoon. Lake Michigan did gain a seven point lead in the first half which was short lived as they left the court down by four points.
In the second half, the men came out to compete but they could not handle the quick Kankakee offense. The men also struggled connecting to the rim only 41% of the time but shot 73% from the free throw line. This led to a seventeen point deficit in the second half and the Cavaliers continued to score leaving the men with a 79-90 loss.
James Smith (SO/Chicago, IL) was the leading scorer with 23 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals while Bryce Saxton (SO/Cassopolis, MI) had 16 points with 7 rebounds, 5 steals, and 6 assists. Deion Gatson (SO/Cassopolis, MI) and Adam Nicks (SO/Indianapolis, IN) (FR/Dowagiac, MI) both had 11 points for the Red Hawks.
