Red Hawks Sweep Bulldogs

The Red Hawks traveled to Adrian College on Tuesday, March 9, 2019 and swept the Bulldogs JV 13-8 and 6-1.

Lake Michigan started the game on a positive note by scoring the first run in the top of the first. They were then able to score three runs in the second and then two more in the third. The Bulldogs pushed two across in the bottom of the third. Neither team scored in the fourth inning. The Red Hawks exploded in the top of the fifth scoring seven runs but allowed Adrian to score five runs in the bottom of the inning. The Bulldogs kept the Red Hawks quiet in the sixth and they were able to score one more run. Even though they put up a good fight Lake Michigan was able to come out on top with the 13-8 win as neither team scored in the seventh inning.

Tyler Roberts obtained the win pitching four and two-thirds innings striking out one batter and allowing seven hits. Tyler Pursley came in for relief pitching an inning and a third allowing three hits and one run. Shane Duffett came in as the closer pitching an inning and did not allow any hits nor runs. Ryan Remus lead the men at the plate with three hits and four RBI's. Danny Mahoney hit a double and two singles with an RBI while Marcus Bradford hit a double and a single with two RBI's. Kaleb Burke blasted a triple with two RBI's as Dalton Riddle hit a double and a single with an RBI. Cole Searles also had three singles with an RBI for the men. 

The Bulldogs were the first to score in the second game in the bottom of the second inning. Lake Michigan pushed a run across tieing the game in the top of the third. The game remained neck and neck for the fourth and fifth innings until the Red Hawks began their rally scoring four runs in the top of the sixth. They were then able to score one more run in the top of the seventh and shut down Adrian's offense to end the night with a 6-1 win. 

Zach Banks received the win for the Red Hawks pitching six innings while striking out five batters, walking two, and only allowing three hits. Nick Foote came in to close for one inning not giving up any hits or runs. Owen Benson dominated the plate hitting a double and two singles with two RBI's. Marcus Bradford hit two singles with two RBI's while Ryan Remus, Cole Searles, and Danny Mahoney all had singles. Mahoney also was able to score two from his hit.

The men will host Glen Oaks Community College on Friday, April 12, 2019 for a conference double header that will begin at 2:00 pm.
