It was a day of celebration for the Lady Red Hawks, not only did they honor their sophomores, they swept visiting Ancilla College 5-4 and 6-5 making it a five game winning streak.

The women were ready for today and scored two runs right away in the first inning.  The Lady Chargers were next to score one in the fourth but Lake Michigan answered back in the same inning scoring another run and again in the fifth continuing their lead.  Ancilla kept the game interesting in the seventh and scored three more runs to tie the game 4-4.  Alyssa Allen (FR/Dowagiac, MI) led the bottom of the seventh and reached second off an error and advanced to third from a single by McKinzie Kiggins (FR/Dowagiac, MI).  Erica Zandarski (FR/Three Oaks, MI) ended the game with sacrifice fly to right that enabled Alyssa to score and win the 5-4 ball game.

Anna Riggenbach (FR/Bridgman, MI) started the game and allowed three hits with twelve strike outs.  McKinzie Kiggins hit a double and a single with an RBI.  Alyssa Allen had three singles while Marissa Dodd (FR/Dowagaic, MI), Angie White (FR/South Haven, MI), Anna Riggenbach, Ali Kyles (FR/Buchanan, MI), and Kailee Cheek (FR/Watervliet, MI) all hit singles.

The second game started out a lot like the first game with the Lady Red Hawks scoring first in the second inning.  The Lady Chargers tied the game in the third making the game 1-1 but that didn't last long as Lake Michigan scored three more runs in the bottom of the inning.  Ancilla came back in the fifth and scored two more runs and the Lady Red Hawks mirrored that scoring two making the game 6-3.  The Lady Chargers did not quit as they continued to battle Lake Michigan but could only produce two more runs in the seventh and the game ended with a 6-5 Lady Red Hawks win.

Karlee Liles (FR/Watervliet, MI) started the game, obtained the win, and struck out two batters.  Anna Riggenbach then came in to relieve in the fifth inning to close the game with four strike outs and only three hits.  Marissa Dodd led the women with a single and a double scoring two runs.  Angie White, Jade Mosier (FR/Buchanan, MI), Alyssa Allen, Anna Riggenbach, McKinzie Kiggins, and Kailee Cheek all hit singles.

The women will finish their conference season on the road, traveling to Muskegon Community College, Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 3:00 pm for a double header.
