Women's Basketball - Fri, Feb. 24, 2017

The women hosted Muskegon Community College for their last home conference game and finished with a 74-64 overtime win.

The Lady Red Hawks began the game making poor choices and not executing.  The Lady Jayhawks took advantage of their messy play and took the lead finishing the first half up by  twelve.  The Lady Red Hawks still appeared shaky coming into the third quarter, and began to come alive but never took the lead due to the poor first half.  The women entered the fourth down by twelve points, and it looked bleak for the women when Kelsee Kinder (SO/Dearborn, MI) was able to connect a couple of three pointers and sparked the women's offense.  Lake Michigan was able to tie the game with seconds left and shutdown the Lady Jayhawk offense to take the women into overtime.  Once this occurred, the Lady Red Hawks never looked back and did not allow Muskegon to score once in the five minutes on the court as they went up by ten winning 74-64.

The MVP of the evening was Shawnee Dame (SO/Muskegon, MI) playing close to thirty eight minutes. She kept the team into the game and was the top rebounder with 8, 5 points, and 3 assists.  Jade Mosier (FR/Buchanan, MI) was the leading scorer with 26 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals.  Kelsee Kinder ended with 17 points, 9 assists, 2 steals, and 3 rebounds.

The women will travel to Ancilla College on Monday, February 27, 2017 at 5:30 pm.
