Men's Basketball - Sat, Feb. 11, 2017

The matchup between the Lake Michigan College Red Hawks and the Jackson College Jets was an instant classic with Lake Michigan pulling out a 89-82 victory in overtime.

Both the Red Hawks and the Jets were playing good team basketball, going back and forth with the lead each and every possession.  Spencer Adams (FR/South Haven, MI) came up huge tonight for his team down the stretch of regulation, burying a pair of free-throws and knocking down a go-ahead three pointer in the final minute.  After the Jets forced a turnover and retook the lead with 3 seconds left, the Red Hawks found themselves by one with one last chance.  After receiving a full-court pass, Lake Michigan forward Jason Walter (SO/Coloma, MI) found a cutting Cortez Moore (FR/Benton Harbor, MI) who was fouled shooting a potential game-winning layup with .8 seconds left.  With the game on the line, Cortez missed the first attempt before making his second to send the game into overtime where the Hawks would finally pull-away from the Jets but not without a fight.  It was due to foul trouble that the Jets could not compete in the end with the full throttled Red Hawks.

Leading the men in scoring was tonight's hero Spencer Adams who finished with 23 points and 6 assists.  Big men Jason Walter also finished with 19 points and 6 rebounds, while Gavin Rasler (FR/Niles, MI) had 16 points and 4 rebounds.

The men will host Grand Rapids Community College on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 7:30 pm.  The men are tied with Mid Michigan and Muskegon Community College with a 7-5 Michigan Community College Athletic Association Western Conference record.
