The Women's Softball Team traveled to Volunteer State this afternoon and lost both games 1-7 and 7-11.

The Lady Red Hawks began the game off rough as Volunteer State scored four runs in the first inning.  The women were able to push one over the plate due to back to back doubles by sophomores Katie Scheuer (SO/Coloma, MI),who scored from Mackenzie Orphanidis (SO/Buchanan, MI), who also received the RBI.  The Lady Red Hawks did not buckle as they held the Lady Volunteers to 7 runs.

In the second game, the women came out hot as they scored 2 runs from sophomore Katie Scheuer's double.  The Volunteers answered back scoring three in the 2nd inning but that did not deter the determination of the Lady Red Hawks when sophomore Mackenzie Orphanidis hit her first homerun run and scored 2 runs.  In the next inning, sophomore Taylor Long (SO/Goshen, IN) hit a long double to score freshman Micah McCree-Davis (FR/Berrien Springs, MI), who also cranked a long double.  Sophomore Courtney Ankrapp (SO/Niles, MI) then came up to the plate and drilled her first homerun of the season to score two more and put the women up 7-6.  The wheels then fell off after a pitching change for the Lady Red Hawks and they ended up dropping the game 7-11.

The Lady Red Hawks will travel to Jackson College to play a 2:00 and 4:00 pm double header.
